Heidelberg University of Education: University Council

The University Council is responsible for the University's development and proposes measures that cultivate its profile and enhance its performance and competitive position (Article 20 LHG). It oversees the executive board of the rectorate.

The University Council elects the full-time board members and confirms the selection of the part-time members of the rectorate. Its decisions primarily concern structural and development planning, the draft budget proposal, the allocation of funds and the specification of professorial duties.

The University Council consists of nine members, who are appointed by the Minister for Science. Only four of the Council's members may be affiliated to the University. The role of chairperson of the University Council must be assumed by an external member.
