Erasmus+ subsidises a semester abroad with 540,- Euro to 600,- Euro per month. The actual number of months that can be funded depends on the budget available to Heidelberg University of Education in the respective funding year. In previous academic years, the subsidised period was 3 to 3.5 months, even if the stay lasted longer.
The grant is calculated as follows:
Top Ups can be granted in addition to the monthly subsidy instalment:
- Top Up for Green Travel
1.1 more than 50% of the journey (outward and return journey) by means of transport classified as sustainable by the EU (train, carpool, bus, bicycle); daily allowance of 18 or 20 euros for up to 6 days of travel (outward and return journey)
1.2 subsidised travel days for non-environmentally friendly travel (e.g. flight), daily allowance of 18 or 20 euros for up to 2 travel days (outward and return journey) - Social Top Up for first-time university graduates
- Social Top Up for employed students
- Social Top Up for students with child(ren)
- Social Top Up for students with a chronic illness
- Social Top Up for students with a disability or chronic illness (from GdB 20)
The subsidy for Top Ups 2 - 6 is 250 euros per month. Only one Top Up (2 - 6) can be claimed.
Special funding for participants with disabilities (GdB from 50): Information on universities for the disabled is available on the homepage of the European Agency for Development in Special Needs Education (www.european-agency.org)
The lump-sum travel allowance is a form of funding that is paid in addition to the additional funding opportunities (top-ups).
An overview of the Heidelberg University of Education's Erasmus+ partner universities can be found in Stud.IP under "International Outgoing Students Erasmus+" in the info box. There you will find information on study options, information on required language certificates and links to the websites of the partner universities. In addition, testimonials from former Erasmus+ students can be viewed.
In the application area of the Stud.IP course mentioned above, a bundled overview of all partner universities is available as an Excel file with the title "Verfügbare_Plätze_Erasmus".
Semester dates may vary depending on the degree programme/faculty of the partner university. For detailed information, we recommend using the official academic calendar of the respective partner university.
- Enrolment at the Heidelberg University of Education
- sufficient language skills in the language of instruction (B1)
The application form and the declaration of consent will be published in September in the application area of the "International Outgoing Students Erasmus+" info box in Stud.IP.
All personal details relevant to the Erasmus+ stay are recorded in the application form. In addition, basic information about your studies and the desired period of stay at a partner university (winter or summer semester) is requested. A maximum of two partner universities (1st and 2nd choice) can be nominated. A separate application must be submitted for each partner university.
The letter of motivation should explain why the planned stay should take place and what expectations and challenges are associated with studying at the partner university and the stay, which events or courses are planned at the partner university, which credits (modules (incl. examinations) and/or partial credits (module components) and/or additional qualification certificate Global Citizen) should result from this at Heidelberg University of Education.
No language certificate must be submitted with the application. However, information on existing language skills is mandatory. The required language level depends on the requirements of the partner university. If no information is provided by the partner university, a language level of B1 is required in the language of instruction. The language of instruction at the partner universities in Spain and Portugal is predominantly Spanish or Portuguese. Knowledge of English is not sufficient.
After receiving a study place, the language certificate must be submitted to the International Office by 31 January at the latest. Selected students will receive information on the procedure for submitting the language certificate when they are offered a place.
Exception Portugal: For stays in Portugal, a language certificate at A2 level is initially sufficient by 31 January. Proof of B1 level must be submitted at least 4 weeks before the start of the stay abroad. This regulation only applies to Portugal.
Interested students should submit the application with the declaration of consent in the upload folder "Applications" in the info box of the above-mentioned event during the specified period. The correct naming of the files (Bewerbung_Nachname and Einwilligungserklaerung_Nachname) must be observed.
After the application deadline, the applications received will be reviewed and evaluated by the International Office.
The evaluation is based, among other things, on
- the letter of motivation
- the completeness and formal correctness of the application documents
- the subject focus of the degree programme in relation to the respective partner university
If more applications are submitted for a partner university than agreed study places are available, places will be allocated by drawing lots from among the suitable applications.
Applications relating to partner universities whose areas of cooperation do not or only partially match your own degree programme/subject may be given lower priority.
There is no legal entitlement to a study place at a particular partner university or to funding via Erasmus+.
Acceptances and cancellations are usually made by mid-December.
Students have certain obligations as part of an approved Erasmus+ study visit. These relate to both organisational procedures and academic requirements. An overview can be found in the Erasmus+ Student Charter, which is available in Stud.IP under "International Outgoing Students Erasmus+" in the info box.
