STIBET I

Foreign students and doctoral candidates who are studying for a degree at Heidelberg University of Education can apply for a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in the STIBET programme, funded by the Federal Foreign Office.

The combined scholarship and support programme (STIBET) serves to improve support for foreign students and doctoral candidates and at the same time provides scholarships for foreign students and doctoral candidates, which can be used by the universities as part of their internationalisation strategy, e.g. to strengthen their international partnerships. The STIBET programme is intended to achieve a significant improvement in support services for foreign students and doctoral candidates, thereby increasing the attractiveness and competitiveness of Germany as a place to study.

Objective: To provide financial support primarily to foreign students and doctoral candidates who are in need through no fault of their own to enable them to concentrate on their studies and complete their degree.

Theprerequisite for funding is that the students and doctoral candidates have performed well and are expected to successfully complete their studies within one year.

Duration of funding: The graduation grant can be awarded for a maximum of six months; an extension of up to 12 months is possible in exceptional cases.

Objective: Scholarships for particularly committed students and doctoral candidates are intended to improve the supervision of international students and doctoral candidates by enabling the scholarship holders to provide supervision or similar services that promote international exchange.

Theprerequisite for funding is, on the one hand, the active participation of the scholarship holders (2-4 hours per week) in the support of international students, e.g. social and professional support, language tandem cooperation, participation in cultural programmes, excursions, country-related events, support activities in halls of residence, language courses, etc. On the other hand, good academic performance is expected. Good academic performance is also expected.

Duration of funding: Scholarships for particularly committed students and doctoral candidates can be awarded for a maximum of 12 months, in exceptional cases an extension is possible.

Applications can be submitted on an ongoing basis.

  • Informal letter of application stating the reasons for the need and describing the special commitment to the university
  • Certificate of enrolment
  • Proof of good performance in your studies or during your doctorate, e.g. by means of an extract from the LSF
  • Letter of recommendation from a teacher

The documents must be submitted in paper form to the International Office.

The decision is made by a commission. Scholarships can only be awarded subject to the availability of funds.

There is no legal entitlement to a STIBET I scholarship.

Upon receipt of a scholarship, the International Office expects further commitment to the internationalisation of the university. This can be done in consultation with the staff of the International Office.

Upon completion of the scholarship, a report on the success of the study programme must be submitted to the International Office within four weeks without being asked.
