Master of Arts in Educational Sciences
In 2011 the University launched this four-semester Master of Arts in Educational Sciences, carrying a total of 120 credit points. All MA students complete the same basic units (research methods and scientific theory). In addition, they have the option of selecting a specialisation leading to a specific Masters degree and combining this with elective subjects from other areas. On the basis of the current programme schedule, students have the option of spending the third semester at a partner university abroad.
The Masters/postgraduate programme offers students the choice between a range of different specialist areas and the option of taking a subsequent doctorate degree involving a certain number of set modules and expert supervision, enabling PhD students to acquire a high level of expertise. There are also plans to offer the option of a combined fast-track programme, allowing particularly competent Masters students to begin work on their PhD thesis during their Masters degree, thus shortening the length of their doctorate studies.
During the new Masters programme, students will acquire the skills to apply a range of sophisticated research methods from various fields of education studies in their subsequent PhD work.
The MA in Educational Sciences offers the following specialisations:
- Außerschulische Erziehung und Bildung im Kontext gesellschaftlicher Heterogenität
- Bildungsprozesse in früher Kindheit und im Elementarbereich
- Inklusion in sonderpädagogischen Handlungsfeldern: Wohnen, Arbeit, Freizeit
