The University Council is the supervisory body of our university and consists of nine members. The external members represent socially relevant areas, while the four internal members represent the various status groups at our university. They fulfil supervisory tasks and advise the university strategically. The external members also act as a bridge to society. The members provide impetus and encouraging feedback and see themselves as critical friends of the entire university.

The University Council should advise and support the university as a whole and steer it within the framework of legal requirements. The expertise and diverse background experience of its members should enable and promote social connections and the desired opening of the university to the outside world.
External members in particular are called upon to see themselves as committed advocates of their university and to act as positive multipliers in the public eye. This is the external perspective. From an internal perspective, the external members have the task of persuading the members of the university to face up to the social meaningfulness and significance of their actions and to avoid compromises at the lowest denominator.
