Tools of Internationalisation

The Center for International Teacher Education (CITE) has conceived an international certificate - Global Citizen- individual study-accompanying profiling -, which is offered via moodle at the university. The international certificate "Global Citizen" documents the acquisition of key competences through stays abroad, foreign language skills, international commitment at the university and participation in events with an international dimension. Achievements with regard to internationality in the course of study are recognised.

CITE examines the existing international elements in teaching and research at the Heidelberg University of Education and has as a further central field of work the establishment and expansion of courses in English.

Updating the knowledge repository with a bibliography on the internationalisation of teacher education, useful key documents and an own library signature (internationalisation of teacher education) are further fields of work at CITE.

Since 01 October 2019 and until December 2022, the project "Programme for the [Promotion of] International Mobility in Primary School Teacher Education" (ProMobiLGS) is being funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) within the framework of the "Lehramt.International" programme. The primary target is to establish structured mobility windows for future primary school teachers and, thus, for the first time fully recognize academic achievements earned abroad.
The project is managed by the Center for International Teacher Education (CITE), which is closely cooperating with the university board, the subjects, and the quality management unit.

The CITE is working on the new version of the Internationalisation Strategy 2026 in the working group established for this purpose. The first working meeting took place on 15.01.2021, the second on 18.03.2021.
