Services for Postdocs

The Heidelberg University of Education provides numerous offers to doctoral graduates who are on their path to a professorship that are adjusted to their specific situation. The Graduate School and its mentoring system play a central role herein.

Since 2018 postdoctoral researchers can join the Graduate School. Their membership goes beyond that of doctoral candidates: Postdoctoral researchers at the Graduate School do not only benefit from its numerous funding and training opportunities. They can also develop their own advisory skills by taking responsibilities for doctoral candidates, for example by holding workshops or by becoming a mentor.

Postdoctoral researchers decide at the beginning of their membership which two of three offers they want to bring to the Graduate School:

  • Offering their own workshop (e.g. on research methodological topics)
  • Being a contact person for specific topics
  • Mentoring for a doctoral candidate within the Graduate School

In return, they have access to the Graduate School’s diverse further qualification program, calls for the funding of training and conference participation, access to a plagiarism control software, and the mentoring system (as a mentee). In addition, a special postdoc call has been launched, in which postdocs can apply for grants for their own research projects.
