Open access policy
The Heidelberg University of Education is committed to the principle of open science to support the worldwide, free, and unrestricted access to scientific information. As a first step towards a corresponding open science strategy, the university's Senate passed an "Open AccessPolicy" in April 2018. The university, thereby, wants to increase the visibility of its research outcomes.
Open access journals
You can find an overview of open access journals in the Directory of Open Access Journals. There you can search for journals in your discipline and see which peer review procedure the respective journal applies.
Open access funds
Various institutions support open access publications. Besides the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and Culture (MWK), also the Heidelberg University of Education supports its researchers in publishing their results as open access publications with the help of an open access fund. If you are planning such a publication, we will be happy to support and advise you in the research department. To assess your application, please send us your informal application specifying the title, the type of open access publication, where it will be published, and the total costs to forschung@ph-heidelberg.de. The application will then be reviewed individually. A legal right to funding does not exist. A maximum of two applications/year per applicant can be approved.
