In an increasingly heterogeneous and globally opening population, intercultural competences are of particular importance. As prospective education experts at Heidelberg University of Education, these can be acquired in a structured and research-based manner during their studies.
Field 1: Compulsory stay abroad (at least 4 weeks) → up to 15 CP
- 1 credit point (CP) corresponds to 30 hours or one week abroad
Plus
Field 2: Foreign language skills → up to 10 CP
and/or
Field 3: Courses related to international/cultural topics → up to 15 CP
and/or
Field 4: International engagement at Heidelberg University of Education → up to 5 CP
- z. E.g. participation in the sponsorship programme, function as an international scout
Results in: Additional qualification Certificate Global Citizen → 15 to 30 CP
Achievements from the Bachelor's and Master's programmes can be incorporated into an additional qualification Certificate Global Citizen.
Notes for Erasmus+ students:
- A maximum of 24 CP from the stay abroad (field 1 - 3) can be acquired via Erasmus+.
- 6 CP must be completed at Heidelberg University of Education (= max. 30 CP).
- Field 2 can include courses in the language of instruction of the partner university, provided that the language does not correspond to the subject (English, French) at Heidelberg University of Education.
... is possible if at least three of the four fields (field 1 obligatory) have been completed and 6 credit points have been earned at Heidelberg University of Education. The following achievements related to internationality in the degree programme can be recognised:
- Internships, research and study visits abroad
- Courses/study visits abroad that cannot be recognised in the regular curriculum
- Courses in a foreign language
- Courses with an international focus → e.g.
, courses with a focus on internationality/development cooperation; see LSF - Acquisition of foreign language skills in preparation for studies/internships abroad
- International engagement at the Heidelberg University of Education
The additional qualification is completed via the Moodle course "Global Citizen".
You can register for the additional qualification at any time during your degree programme (Bachelor's or Master's).
Only Erasmus+ students register for the certificate at the same time as creating the Online Learning Agreement. After the period of mobility abroad, partial recognition is granted by the International Office on the basis of the completed Online Learning Agreement and the transcript of records from the partner university.
