On this page you will find all the important information and a checklist for a good start to your studies: enrolment, advice days (BeTa) for first-semester students, orientation in everyday student life and on campus, student accommodation and living and much more. Do you still have questions? Whether it's about starting your studies or questions about the campus, we're here for you!
Have you been offered a place on a degree programme and would like to accept it? Then the next step is matriculation, i.e. enrolment on the degree programme.
Enrolment
After successful enrolment, you will receive your study documents from the university:
- Access to the online services of the PH Heidelberg (incl. student webmail account) and Heidelberg University
- CampusCard - your multifunctional student ID card
There are a few questions to clarify about studying.
- Financing: How do I want to finance my studies? Whether BAföG, scholarships, loans or jobs - find out about the options, requirements and deadlines early on.
- Where tolive: Where can and do I want to live? Whether in a student hall of residence or in a private flat, in Heidelberg or the surrounding area: keep an eye on costs and availability.
- Mobility: Do I need to use local transport, buses and trains or will a bicycle be sufficient? Find out about favourable fares from the Rhine-Neckar Transport Association (VRN), for example, and use the nextbike service.
: Where do I study? Where can I study and take breaks? And where can I get something to eat? Take a look at the locations and university facilities.
Ready to start your studies - familiarise yourself with the university's online services at an early stage.
- Activate your PH account: After successful enrolment, you will receive access data for the online services of the PH Heidelberg. These include portals such as the study administration portal CAMPUS and various learning platforms, the Wi-Fi network eduroam and your personal student webmail address. You can also use this access data to log on to PCs in the university's pool rooms.
- Activate your university computer centre account: You will also receive access data for the online services of Heidelberg University's computer centre. This allows you to use the Heidelberg University library, for example.
- Validate CampusCard and top up money: Your personal student ID card is also your library card, payment card and more. To use it, you must validate it at a validation machine (your current enrolment status will be printed on it). You can then top up the card with money at a Studierendenwerk vending machine to pay in the canteen or at photocopiers.
The Advice Days (BeTa) provide you with the most important information about your degree programme, the university and the organisation of your studies. Timetable consultations are offered for the teaching degree programme. You can also get to know the service and counselling facilities, student initiatives and, above all, your fellow students. You can explore your place of study on campus and city tours.
