Climate change is an emotional challenge. People fear, feel ashamed and are outraged. Some feel anger or sadness, others react with resentment or scepticism, and still others with composure. When people talk, write or think about climate change, we are usually confronted with a wide range of emotions. On the one hand, this has to do with the existential significance of the issue. When we talk about climate change, we are usually talking about everything. On the other hand, communication about climate change often relates to concrete human action. It is about questions of individual and collective responsibility, about justice and our way of life – in other words, it is about genuinely moral and ethical questions.
The existential dimension and simultaneous moral connotation of the topics of climate change and ecological transformation are what make them so emotional. This is associated with a cascade of challenges, especially for communication in a school context. We want to take a look at some of these challenges during the three-day international Autumn School. Places are limited; registration is required. Participation in the Autumn School is free of charge. The event will be held primarily in English.

The Autumn School takes place as part of a German-Danish cooperation project and is made possible by funding from Heidelberg University's Excellence Strategy in the sub-project ‘Expanding Internationality’. The Autumn School receives additional funding from the CARNAL project at the University of Copenhagen.
