At the latest since the murder of George Floyd in the USA, the debate about everyday racism has also flared up again in this country. In the workshop "Racism: Raising Awareness in the Classroom" with Dr. Ana Sobral, you will approach racism as an everyday practice that many of us have unconsciously internalised. Looking at the history of racism, you will examine how you, as future teachers, can use literature, film and other elements of popular culture to teach anti-racism in the classroom.

The workshop, organised in cooperation with the Heidelberg School of Education (HSE), will take place on Wednesday, 7 June 2023 at 10.00 a.m. in room 110 of the Department of English at Heidelberg University (Kettengasse 12, 69117 Heidelberg, Germany). Registration is requested for participation. The Workshop is funded by the DAAD as part of the project "Being Mobile in International Teacher Education".
