GREENWOOD – Puppetry
Was Studis sagen:

Veranstaltung:
Can a dishcloth feel sad? Can a tennis ball hate you? Can a piece of old newspaper really want to be
your friend? Puppetry says they can - when everyone agrees to play and dream together. As
performers, it is our job to make it easy for the audience to believe, together, in what we show them.
And as puppeteers, we show them how something can come to life that normally would seem
completely trivial, dead and uninteresting.
In this practical workshop we will explore the relationships between performer, puppet, and
audience; acting truthfully through an object in reaction to events around us; discovering organically
how your puppet might move and express itself; using our group radar to connect with other
performers; using our eyes to direct the audience’s focus to our puppet; and using physical theatre
and clown techniques to keep our puppets at the centre of attention. The objective of this workshop
is to give students some core skills in puppetry and to discover what we can do with objects,
puppets, or human performers, in performance settings from classrooms to theatres.
Referentin:
Bethany Greenwood began puppeteering professionally in 2016 after graduating as an actor from
Arts Ed London and training with Vamos Theatre in full mask. Based in the UK, she has worked
internationally as a maker, puppeteer, performer, puppetry director, workshop leader and mentor
with companies including The National Trust, Butterfly Theatre, Handprint Theatre, Discover Story
Centre, Compagnie le Ruminant, Jersey Heritage, and her own company Rock Paper Scissors. She
uses reused and recycled materials to build all her puppets, and wherever possible makes them
cuddly enough to ‘meet’ young audiences during and after the show.
