Internship exchange

If you are planning an internship abroad, you will find a selection of internships here that can be organised independently or - if specified - in conjunction with funding.

An internship abroad can also be organised independently. Schools abroad can be contacted directly to introduce themselves and request an internship. This individual planning allows for greater time flexibility outside of the existing programmes.

The Heidelberg University of Education is offering two internships and financial support opportunities for internships abroad at a school in Olomouc in the Czech Republic for the year 2026. The internships will take place in spring or autumn, starting in March / April or September / October. The period can be determined individually, but must be either 4 weeks (short-term internships) or 60 days to 3 months (long-term internships).

Two internships are advertised per period. Internships are also funded in the period between the Bachelor's degree and the start of the Master's programme; in this case, a pre-admission for a Master's programme at the PH Heidelberg must be available.

Located in the east of the Czech Republic, the city of Olomouc with its historic city centre offers a wide range of leisure activities and cultural attractions. In addition to several Gothic and late Gothic churches, Olomouc Castle - Mozart's temporary residence - can also be visited. Museums and theatres bring visitors closer to the Moravian joie de vivre.

  • Secondary education in the upper school (10th - 12th grade) with Abitur qualification
  • Educational concept: more freedom and space for independent decisions to strengthen students' sense of responsibility
  • Support for pupils with disabilities, exchange visits, various domestic and foreign excursions, close cooperation with several universities (especially with Palacký University in Olomouc)
  • High level of technical equipment at the school: data projector, interactive whiteboard and wireless internet connection in every classroom as well as iPads for all pupils
  • Other school activities: social events such as the prestigious school ball, intensive involvement in charitable work, close cooperation with parents of pupils for possible involvement in school administration
  • Special bonus: A former guest student from the Czech Republic teaches at the school and supervises the interns from the PH!
  • The International Office arranges internships for students.
  • Depending on availability, accommodation can be provided in affordable rooms in the student hall of residence.
  • When applying for an internship, students must also apply for financial support from Erasmus+ funds. Depending on the length of the internship, this can be an Erasmus+ Short-Term Blended Mobility or an Erasmus+ Long-Term Mobility.
  • Palacký University in Olomouc offers a financial grant, depending on availability, which can largely cover the costs of accommodation in the student residence. In the event of a successful application for a scholarship place, this funding can be arranged individually in consultation with the Czech partner university and with the support of the International Office.

When you apply for the internship, you are also applying for financial support from Erasmus+ funds. Depending on the length of the internship, this can be an Erasmus+ Short-Term Blended Mobility or an Erasmus+ Long-Term Mobility.

Selection criteria for the allocation of the respective internship and for the approval of the scholarship are:

  • On a voluntary basis, you can also indicate whether you are a first-time graduate. This will be taken into account when assessing the applications.

A selection committee decides on the allocation of the place and the financial support on the basis of the written application documents.
