Sociology at the Heidelberg University of Education is concerned with the social conditions and effects of educational processes. It analyses how social factors influence education and how education in turn shapes social structures and inequalities.
In teaching and research, we focus on the social significance of education, processes of inclusion and exclusion in and through education. We are interested in questions of educational inequality, inclusion, disability and impairment as well as in the structures of the education system and teacher training.
