The speech training programme at the Heidelberg University of Education prepares students for the diverse communicative demands of the teaching profession. In practical seminars, participants practise basic techniques of oral communication, focussing on voice, articulation, body language and presence in the classroom. The aim is to achieve a clear, effective and authentic way of speaking in everyday teaching situations and successful dialogue in school situations.
The seminars on speech training impart basic knowledge and practical skills in the area of oral communication - with a particular focus on the requirements of the teaching profession. Topics covered include breathing, voice, articulation, intonation and clear and effective speech expression.
Another focus is on preparing and conducting school dialogue situations, such as parents' evenings or parent-teacher conferences. Participants develop strategies for dealing with challenging communication situations and for a professional, speech-supported presence in everyday school life.
