Our subject is dedicated to exploring forms of musical expression, creative processes and reflection on musical and sound culture within historical, social and media contexts. The focus is on both practical musical activity and the theoretical and pedagogical study of music and music education.

As the Music Students’ Association, we are committed to ensuring that music studies are diverse, practical and community-oriented. Whether it be singing, instrumental performance, music theory or teaching methodology – we encourage dialogue, active participation and musical collaboration. Our aim is to keep the subject of music alive and to prepare students as well as possible for their future careers.

In our music library, you’ll find everything you need for your studies and your own musical interests: from reference works and specialist journals, through literature on music history, music education and musicology, to sheet music, teaching materials and songbooks. Whether you’re writing an essay or seminar paper, preparing lessons or simply want to explore a topic in greater depth – you’ll find plenty of inspiration and ideas here. Our collection is listed in the central library catalogue of the Heidelberg University of Education. Just look out for the note ‘Special location: Music Department’. And one more thing: the music library is a reference library – so you can browse, read and work right there on the spot.

The Music Library is located at Quinckestraße 72, on the first floor, room Q109. Access is via the inner courtyard at Keplerstraße 87.
