International Symposium 2023 - "AI and ChatGPT in Educational Contexts" - Wednesday, 08.11.2023 - Friday, 10.11.2023, Aula, hybrid

This year's international symposium in the framework of ProMobiLGS will take place at Heidelberg University of Education from Wednesday, 08.11.2023, 13.00 to Friday, 10.11.2023, 14.00 (CET) (Aula) and will focus on "AI and ChatGPT in Educational Contexts". The conference languages are English and German.

The submitted abstracts promise an exciting event! We are looking forward to a lively exchange with all participants and would like to take this opportunity to invite you to take part in the International Symposium also without a contribution!

July 4, 2023: CITE celebrates its 5th Birthday

Five years ago, on 4 July 2018, Heidelberg University of Education opened the Center for International Teacher Education (CITE).
Its task is to coordinate, initiate and implement measures for the strategy and development of internationalisation at the university, such as - to pick just a few examples - the internationalisation of teacher education, the re-audit "Internationalisation of Higher Education Institutions" of the HRK (German Rectors' Conference), support in the creation of the university's internationalisation strategy, the conception and implementation of the additional qualification Certificate Global Citizen, the development and expansion of English-language teaching, the exploration of funding opportunities and the organisation of (international) network conferences.

CITE is now celebrating its 5th birthday and is looking forward to continuing to support the university in its internationalisation efforts in the future!

26.10.2022 - 28.10.2022: International Conference 2022

"TEACHING METHODS IN TEACHER EDUCATION - LEHRMETHODEN IN DER UNIVERSITÄREN LEHRER:INNENBILDUNG"
The conference was another international event within the framework of the ProMobiLGS project (DAAD Lehramt.International).
Opened by greetings from the Rector, Professor Dr. Karin Vach, and the Prorector for Studies, Teaching and Internationalisation, Professor Dr. Karl-Heinz Dammer, teachers from Heidelberg University of Education and their project partners in Switzerland, Turkey and the USA gave exciting insights into their teaching methods.
The conference participants were enthusiastic about the diversity of the "Teaching Methods" and had the opportunity during the wide-ranging supporting programme with numerous activities, to exchange ideas intensively and to think about further joint projects.

 

September 2022: Grant agreement (DAAD) - follow-up funding ProMobiLGS

The Heidelberg University of Education receives the DAAD grant contract for the follow-up funding of the project ProMobiLGS - "Programme for the [promotion of] international mobility in the primary school teacher education" until 2024 within the framework of the DAAD Lehramt.International programme.

 

Wednesday, 22.06.2022: International Science Day

An event of the International Office and the Center for International Teacher Education.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the International Office of the Heidelberg University of Education and the Center for International Teacher Education organised the "International Science Day 2022" in the auditorium with presentations of international projects and an exchange of best practice on successful application and implementation. Participants were able to find out about the possibilities of applying for and receiving funding.

 

International Science Slam

In the afternoon, the hybrid event in cooperation with the Transfer Center took place from 16:00 to 18:00. At the event, which was held with the university's Transfer Center, Philipp Schrögel from the Center for Apocalyptic and Post-Apocalyptic Studies (CAPAS) at Heidelberg University gave an insight into modern forms of science communication. Max Wetterauer from the Transfer Center then led through the entertaining afternoon with slams of 12 minutes on a wide variety of research topics.
The "International Science Day 2022" and the "International Science Slam" marked the start of the "International Days", which are to be organised in different formats at the university in the future.

 

Thursday, 19.05.2022: Follow Up to the Digital International Autumn School 2021 in the framework of ProMobiLGS

As part of the ProMobiLGS project, our Autumn School with students from our partner universities took place in autumn 2021 under the academic leadership of Prof. Gervé (PH HD). The focus was on the social engagement of students and its value for professionalisation for the teaching profession. In the course of the Autumn School, the question of the recognition of this commitment repeatedly moved into the centre of attention.
On 19.05.2022, the ProMobiLGS team organised a Follow Up on this question with representatives of the Swiss Universities of Teacher Education, Marmara University, Istanbul and Heidelberg University of Teacher Education:
"Follow Up 2022 to the Digital International Autumn School 2021: Possibilities of recognition of social engagement in studies".
The persons involved in recognition presented processes and recognition of social engagement at their universities and exchanged views in a lively and exciting discussion.

Information event on the DAAD project ProMobiLGS ("Programme for the [Promotion of] International Mobility in the Primary School Teaching Profession")

On Tuesday, 07.12.2021, the hybrid information event on the ProMobiLGS project took place from 13:00 to 14:00 in the Old Building. Information was provided about the measures and opportunities in the project:

    Guest lectureships
    Workshops
The project is funded within the framework of the "Lehramt.International" programme of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) until December 2022.

15/16.10.2021: Digital International Autumn School 2021 "Professionalization in teaching through social engagement".

As part of the ProMobiLGS project, our Digital Autumn School will take place in October 2021, where students from the participating universities will play a special and very active role: They will report on their extracurricular social engagement, present this in a short presentation and discuss it with the participants from all universities that will be present. The contributions that have already been submitted lead us to expect a very exciting Autumn School, which we are very much looking forward to!
Participants from students as well as faculty and staff are welcome.

September 2021: Study Guide - Study Abroad and Recognition

As part of the ProMobiLGS project at Heidelberg University of Education, the "Study Guide - Study Abroad and Recognition" has now been published. It forms the basis for the preparation of Learning Agreements.
Sample learning agreements in the study guide provide guidance. The study guide thus serves as a guide for students as well as lecturers and module or recognition officers.
With the precise comparison of modules and courses, the study abroad at the partner universities and the recognition of achievements abroad at Heidelberg University of Education can be planned bindingly for all involved.

July 14, 2021: Report 2017 - 2021

For the first time, the Center for International Teacher Education (CITE) presented a comprehensive report of its activities to the Senate at its 455th meeting. It covers the period from the start of operations in June 2017 to June 2021.
In the future, in accordance with CITE's bylaws, the report will be presented annually to the Heidelberg University of Education Senate.

Summer semester 2021: Preparation of the digital Autumn School 2021 (ProMobiLGS)

"Professionalisation in the teaching profession through social engagement". As part of the ProMobiLGS project, we are planning our digital Autumn School for autumn 2021 (15 October 2021/16 October 2021), in which students from the participating universities will play a special and very active role: They will report on their non-university social engagement, present this in a short presentation and discuss it with the participants from all universities who will be present. Financial support is provided for students who get involved in this way. The registration deadline for participants with a contribution is 20 July 2021. Further participants from the circle of students as well as teachers and staff are very welcome.

May 6, 2021: Insta Lives

Exchange about study-related stays abroad.
As part of the campaign "studieren weltweit - ERLEBE ES!" (study worldwide - EXPERIENCE IT!), a joint initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the DAAD, the virtual event "Insta Lives" is offered to inform students about opportunities for study-related stays abroad. Every first Thursday of the month at 5 p.m., an Insta Live is hosted on instagram.com/studierenweltweit, where our ambassadors share live stories about their experience abroad and answer questions from the community. On May 6, 2021, Kim Göwecke and Silvia Stitzenberger will talk about their time abroad as student teachers at 5pm. Kim and Silvia will talk about their motivations, special moments abroad, as well as funding opportunities and other hard facts, and answer questions from participants. Among other things, they will briefly refer to the program "Lehramt.International" scholarships.

October 9, 2020: Virtual workshop in the ProMobiLGS project

" Teacher training for sustainable development and sustainable living: Projects in teaching and research in primary education Teacher education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles: Projects in teaching and research in primary education". With over 40 participants from the partner universities in the ProMobiLGS project, other institutions and the Heidelberg University of Education, the workshop took place with a keynote, numerous contributions and an intensive exchange of ideas.

The workshop will take place on Friday, 09.10.2020 from 14 to 18 hrs CET and 08 to 12 hrs EST in virtual format via Zoom.

May 2020: Possibility of providing funds for virtual guest lectureships - ProMobiLGS (DAAD/Lehramt.International)

Due to the restrictions imposed by the corona pandemic, our project cannot be realized as planned for 2020. However, it is possible to reallocate the funds earmarked for physical mobility and implement virtual formats. This also applies to guest lectureships. Applications can be submitted immediately. The relevant documents can be found in the Download Center of the International Office.

For the project year 2020, you can now offer a guest lectureship at a partner university and invite colleagues to a guest lectureship in Heidelberg. Applications can be submitted immediately. Due to the current situation, the application deadline for full scholarships within the ProMobiLGS project (DAAD/Lehramt.International) has been extended until 30.04.2020.

February 17, 2020: Apply now - ProMobiLGS (DAAD/Lehramt.International)

From now on, students of the B.A. programme in primary education (primary school teacher education) can apply for scholarships to promote study visits within the framework of ProMobiLGS for the winter semester 2020/2021. Study visits in the winter semester 2020/21 are supported with full scholarships at selected partner universities with full (intended) recognition of the study achievements earned abroad. The complete application documents must be submitted in paper form to the International Office by 14.04.2020.

February 2020: "Courses in English" - new courses for the summer semester 2020

From now on, the new courses of the university's English-language teaching offer for the summer semester 2020 are online in the LSF. The courses are open to students of all subjects.

October 2019: The "ProMobiLGS" project of the Heidelberg University of Education starts as planned on 01.10.2019

"ProMobiLGS" is carried out in cooperation between institutes, subjects of the university and the Center for International Teacher Education (CITE) for the DAAD call for applications "Internationalisation of Teacher Education". The DAAD is funding the project until 31.12.2022.

October 2019: "Internationalisation of Universities"

HRK awards university for strategic internationalisation: The Heidelberg University of Education has successfully completed the three-year re-audit process. This makes it the first university of education to be certified by the HRK as being systematically committed to self-defined internationalisation goals. The Secretary General of the German Rectors' Conference, Dr. Jens-Peter Gaul, presented the certificate to Henrike Schön and Anja Bast-Schneider in Berlin.

The German education system is facing changing requirements. Today, for example, educational opportunities must be provided for an increasingly heterogeneous and globally opening population. Teachers need intercultural skills in particular, which they can acquire in a structured and research-based way during their studies. As a university of education, PH Heidelberg has reacted accordingly and opened the Center for International Teacher Education (CITE) on July 4, 2018. Its task is the coordination, initiation and implementation of measures for the strategy and development of internationalisation at Heidelberg University of Education.

June 2018: Invitation to the CITE opening

The internationalisation of teacher education is an important concern of the university. The Senate has therefore decided to establish the Center for International Teacher Education.
The CITE will be officially opened on Wednesday, 4 July 2018, 3.00 pm. You are cordially invited to the Aula. The international study-related certificate"Gobal Citizen" via moodle is in preparation. The launch is planned for 14.06.2018 as part of the 6th International Day.

May 2018: Collection of data on the internationality of the Heidelberg University of Education

The first survey on the status of internationality has been carried out among teachers since 28.05.2018. A further survey among researchers at the Heidelberg University of Education on the status of internationality will follow in the course of the 2018 summer semester. The surveys are being conducted within the framework of the HRK re-audit "Internationalisation of Universities" and are intended to make previously unknown or little-known projects more visible.

December 2017: Senate reacts to changed requirements for teaching professionalism

On 20 December 2017, the Senate of the Heidelberg University of Education decided to establish a centre for the future design and implementation of the internationalisation of teacher education in research, teaching and transfer. The university is thus reacting to the changing demands on the German education system, which must offer educational opportunities for an increasingly heterogeneous and globally opening population. Teachers in particular need transcultural competences for this, which they should be able to acquire in the future in a structured and research-based way already during their studies. The centre is lead by Henrike Schön, who is also the director of the International Office / Intercultural Forum of the university; Anja Bast-Schneider will take over the management of the centre with effect from 1 January 2018.
