For admission to an undergraduate degree programme, i.e. a degree programme with a Bachelor's degree, you need a higher education entrance qualification.
As a rule, this is the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur). Studying without an Abitur is also possible! Various school and vocational qualifications may entitle you to study at our university. Have you completed your school leaving certificate abroad and would like to study with us? Find out what you need to know here.
As a rule, the university entrance qualification is the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur). However, there are many ways in which you can fulfil the admission requirements for studying at the PH Heidelberg even without a general or suitable subject-specific higher education entrance qualification. For example, if you have an entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences (Fachhochschulreife) or a vocational qualification (berufliche Qualifikation), you can qualify for the degree programme by taking an examination or providing the relevant certificates.
Information on the individual certificates can be found under the relevant university entrance qualifications.
The Admissions Office will be happy to advise you on further admissions according to § 58 Section 2 LHG.
Only applies to certain subjects or certain degree programmes (see certificate). Please note: The university entrance qualification may only be valid for certain federal states.
If you have a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification and would like to study a Bachelor's degree programme for which you do not have the authorisation, you can take the delta examination.
Eligible at the PH Heidelberg exclusively for the Bachelor's degree programme "Early Childhood and Elementary Education".
As a graduate of the Fachhochschulreife, you have the opportunity to take the Delta exam. If you successfully pass the Delta exam, you will be authorised to study all Bachelor's degree programmes in Baden-Württemberg.
A master craftsman's examination and proof of a counselling interview entitles the holder to study all degree programmes (in Baden-Württemberg). Advanced vocational training equivalent to the master craftsman's examination exists if
- the advanced vocational training programme builds on at least two years of vocational training,
- the advanced vocational training is recognised advanced vocational training and
- the continuing vocational training course comprises at least 400 teaching hours
- or vocational training has been completed in accordance with the Framework Agreement on Vocational Schools of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of 7 November 2002, as amended (e.g. educators, curative education nurses, youth and home educators).
You can complete the counselling interview at any university of teacher education in Baden-Württemberg.
Entitles the holder to study at a university of teacher education.
The prerequisite for participation in the aptitude test is at least two years of professional training corresponding to the intended degree programme and professional experience in the relevant subject, as well as a counselling interview.
The aptitude test takes place once a year at one of the teacher training colleges in Baden-Württemberg.
Passing the career examination for specialist teachers of musical and technical subjects is equivalent to a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification (fachgebundene Hochschulreife). With this qualification, you can apply for the teacher training programmes B.A. Education in the primary sector (related to primary school teaching) or B.A. Education in the secondary sector (related to lower secondary level).
In some cases, it is necessary to pass a special examination in addition to a vocational or school-leaving qualification in order to be able to study at a university.
The delta examination (Detlaprüfung) is aimed at prospective students with a university of applied sciences entrance qualification or an unsuitable subject-restricted university entrance qualification, while the aptitude test (Eignungsprüfung) was developed specifically for those with vocational qualifications.
