Would you like to study another teaching subject? Then you've come to the right place:
Teacher training students at the PH Heidelberg can study a subject with a different scope (FaU). This additional study programme enables you to study all Bachelor's modules of a teaching subject and comprises 40 CP or 63 CP, depending on the teacher training profile. You complete the FaU with a university certificate. The credit points earned in the FaU can be credited towards the supplementary Master's degree programme in Extension Subject in M. Ed. Secondary Level I and thus form a basis for taking up a further teaching subject.
- existing enrolment in a teaching-related degree programme at the Heidelberg University of Education and
- completion of the second subject-related semester (in the Bachelor's phase).
- subject-specific requirements (entrance examination in art or sport or letter of motivation for music; language skills if German and English are chosen as subjects)

You can take up a subject with a different scope in the summer and winter semesters. You do not need to submit a separate application.

The scope of study depends on the reference to the respective teaching profession:
Relation to the primary school teaching profession: 40 credit points
Relation to the teaching degree for secondary level I: 63 credit points
If you have successfully completed a subject with a different scope in relation to the teaching degree at secondary level I, its contents will be recognised for the study of a supplementary extension subject in the Master of Education profile line Teaching degree at secondary level I with the same subject focus.

You complete the subject with a different scope with a university certificate. This certificate does not lead to academic qualification for teaching.
Continuation of the FaU as an extension master's programme:
If you continue the FaU as part of a supplementary extension master's degree programme, you will improve your chances of being hired as a teacher, for example in school job advertisements, by gaining a broader qualification. The Master's degree programme "Extension subject in the Master of Education profile line Teaching Qualification Secondary Level I" is offered in addition to the regular teaching degree programme and leads to a further academic qualification. In accordance with the Framework Ordinance for Teacher Training Programmes, this degree gives you the academic qualification to teach the studied subject for the teaching profession at lower secondary level. The contents of the FaU are recognised for the study of a supplementary extension subject in the Master of Education profile line Teaching Qualification Secondary Level I with the same subject focus.
