In the Master's degree programme in Engineering Education, students must complete a total of ten weeks of school work placement - referred to below as the school work placement semester.

Module I

The first module of the school internship semester (two weeks) is already completed in the Bachelor's degree programme. Graduates of external Bachelor's or Diploma degree programmes in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology have the option of completing these two missing weeks of school placement in the Master's degree programme (together with the second module).

To do this, it is necessary to register for Module II in the Master's programme at the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs and to enter the note "Module 1+2" under "Remarks".

Module II and III

The second module (three weeks) and the third module (five weeks) of the school internship must be completed during the course of the Master's programme in the lecture-free period after the first and second semesters respectively. The respective registration for Module II and Module III must be submitted to the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs. The Master's degree programme in Engineering Education is listed there under the name "BA/MA-Gewerbelehrer (Technikpädagogik)".

During modules II and III, students also attend courses at the State Seminar for Didactics and Teacher Training (Vocational Schools) in Karlsruhe. It is not necessary to register with the state seminar (contact person: Mr Kussmann), as the seminar has access to the registrations at the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs (online registration also automatically includes registration for the accompanying courses at the seminar).

In your Master's thesis, you demonstrate that you have deepened your knowledge in a chosen field of electrical engineering and information technology within a specified period of five months through independent and (self-) reflective research activity. You will work on a research question relevant to practice and/or science, draw on a sufficient repertoire of research methods and always apply these critically in relation to the solution of your own research question and research problem.

If you are de-registered after completing your degree programme, you will be provided with certificates of your period of study via the CAMPUS portal:

• Notice of de-registration (shows the reason for and effective date of de-registration)
• Certificate of de-registration (shows your degree programme and periods of study)
• Certificate of study periods for submission to the German Pension Insurance (according to form V0510 DRV)

You will graduate from the Engineering Education degree programme with aMaster of Science (M. Sc.).

After successfully completing the programme, you can pursue a career as a teacher or work in industry. If you decide to become a teacher, you will complete an 18-month traineeship after successfully completing the Master's degree programme. You can then teach the subjects "Electrical Energy and Automation Technology" and "Systems and Information Technology" at vocational schools, technical high schools, technical colleges or vocational colleges, for example.
There is a considerable demand for young talent in these types of schools, so your chances of being hired are very favourable nationwide.
