DAAD PROMOS

PROMOS makes it possible. The scholarship programme of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) increases the mobility of students and supports the internationalisation strategies of participating universities.

  1. Increasing the mobility of students at German universities
  2. Prioritisation of the university's own international mobility
  3. Prioritising and expanding the internationalisation strategy

Funding is available for

  • german students
  • equivalent persons according to § 8 para. 1 no. 2 ff and para. 2 to 3 BAföG and
  • non-German students if they are enrolled in a degree programme at a German university with the aim of obtaining a degree at a German university

  • outside Europe and the Erasmus+ framework
  • eligible for funding from 30 days to 6 months

  • at a university or company abroad; the stay is justified by the preparation of the final thesis
  • no regular courses are attended at a university
  • eligible from 30 days to 6 months
  • Final theses/study projects that are not carried out at a university or a company can be funded in exceptional cases if the relevant department fully supports the project and the students submit a detailed timetable that can also be used later to monitor success.

PROMOS supports the stay, but does not arrange study places. Students are responsible for finding a place on their own initiative.

Stays in regions for which the Federal Foreign Office has issued a travel warning.

Stays abroad are funded with a travel allowance and/or a partial scholarship.

The funding rates are based exclusively on the country-specific DAAD travel allowances.

PROMOS does not cover full funding, it is a grant programme.

The application form contains a checklist with information on the necessary documents. Only complete applications submitted by the deadline will be considered.

A selection committee decides on the awarding of scholarships on the basis of the written application documents.
