There are various options for financial support available to exchange students at Heidelberg University of Education. Depending on the exchange programme and the student’s home university, either the Baden-Württemberg Scholarship (BWS) or Erasmus+ may be eligible as a funding programme.
The Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM is a funding programme of the Baden-Württemberg Foundation that has been supporting the international exchange of students and young professionals since 2001. It is aimed both at young people from Baden-Württemberg who would like to go abroad and at international students who are to study in Baden-Württemberg.

- intercultural, social or other commitments beyond one’s studies
- Good command of German (B1)

You must seek advice from your home university regarding your study plans and the application procedure.
Applications for a Baden-Württemberg scholarship are made via the BWS World online portal. You must create a personal profile.

- Full personal details
- Letter of motivation
- Curriculum vitae
- Photograph
- Evidence of academic progress and achievements (transcript of records)
- Proof of the required foreign language proficiency
- Certificate of enrolment from your home university
- Evidence of social, intercultural or other engagement since the start of your studies
Each file name must be labelled with the applicant’s name (e.g. CV_Smith.doc).

Only complete applications will be accepted.
There is no legal entitlement to a scholarship.
The success of the application is decided by a commission appointed independently by the Senate of the University of Education, which forwards the application to the Baden-Württemberg Foundation in the form of a selection proposal.
Students have certain responsibilities whilst on a study visit. These relate to both organisational procedures and academic requirements.
- Complete the Learning Agreement
→ Agree on the courses with your home university and the partner university - Comply with the Learning Agreement
→ Complete courses as planned
→ Document any necessary changes - Participate in events organised by the Baden-Württemberg Foundation as part of the Baden-Württemberg Scholarship
- Communication with the partner and home universities
→ The universities must be informed in writing immediately if studies have to be interrupted or discontinued - Do not receive any other scholarship whilst this funding is in place
Students at European higher education institutions participating in the Erasmus+ programme can undertake an Erasmus+ placement at Heidelberg University of Education. The selection process for an exchange place at Heidelberg University of Education takes place at the student’s home institution.
